Abstract
This study aims to assess the effectiveness of the Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC) intervention on improving communication abilities in children with Williams Syndrome. Participants included 3 children diagnosed with Williams Syndrome exhibiting communication difficulties with others. For this study, Multiple Probe Baseline Design across subjects was utilized. The tool utilized was a computer that allows participants to operate a communication windows program by clicking on graphic symbols; Korean explanations for each symbol were present. Participants were trained to choose three familiar activities as communication situations to provide them with opportunities to express their needs and reveal what they feel and think in a socially negotiated way. Results showed that the AAC intervention effectively improved communication abilities for all 3 participants.
